Go further than any tour and hike down to the shores of Loch Ness, passing the beautiful and dramatic Falls of Foyers, where The Bard, Rabbie Burns once visited and pens a poem there and then! Our 2 hour hike takes us through ancient Caledonian Pines, passing amazing view points until we come to our secret spot and onto the shore of the famous Loch Ness! (please read detail of hike before booking).
On the way back up the loch, we travel along back roads, avoiding the tourists and taking in some amazing typical Highland scenery before stopping for a unique view of Loch Ness 300 metres above it!
We descend down to shore level again and get out for an opportunity to walk along the pebble beach and take in the full expanse of Loch Ness and the Great Glen Fault Line. On a sunny day, we will have time for a dip in the icy waters where you can swim with legends!
After spending the morning in and around Loch Ness, we travel across the city of Inverness to the ancient burial site, Balnuaran of Clava - Clava Cairns. The inspiration behind Diana Gabaldon's Craigh Na Dun in Outlander. These 4,000 year old burial chambered cairns inspire more than books, but your imagination! What was the land like when these people lived and died here? Take your time to walk around this site and feel the energy, history and mystery!
On our way home, we take time to stop off at the site of the last pitched battle on British soil - The Battle of Culloden (entry to visitor centre additional cost). Learn of the tragic events that occured, prior, during and after the battle that shaped British history and changed Highland life forever......
